How to get to Altea
Arrival into Altea by air will bring you into one of six largest airport in Spain, Alicante´s International Airport, known as El Altet (ALC), which is the gateway to the Costa Blanca resort region.
Allow at least 53 minutes for the 76 km journey by taxi from Alicante airport to Altea depending on traffic conditions.
Altea is a town and municipality located in the province of Alicante, Spain, north of Alicante on the section of Mediterranean coast called the Costa Blanca.
Altea is located south of Calpe and about 15 kilometres north of Benidorm. This makes it a great location to live or visit.
The Faculty of Arts by the University Miguel Hernández is located in Altea . Over the years, Altea has been a refuge for poets, singers, painters, sculptors and potters. Altea has a quiet charm yet is close to bigger more vibrant towns with good shopping and nightlife.
The old town part of Altea is set on a steep hillside and the streets are littered with small designer shops and is popular with artists.
Amongst the narrow streets with their scenic white houses, orange trees and geraniums you’ll find painters, potters and many other traditional craftsmen’s studios.
It is one of the most memorable coastal towns of the Costa Blanca, along its 6km coast, Altea offers marvellous beaches, coves and cliffs, such as
the Beach of Mascarat and the partly wild Barreta and Solcida coves, with their sparkling water and small pebbles or beaches, like “La Olla” in front of the Island.
Or the wide and peaceful beach “Cap Negret” on the mouth of the Algar river, followed by the “LA Roda” beach next to the old town and finally , past the fishing port is the wide Cap Blanc beach with its blue flag status and services like parking, shops, bars and restaurants.
